It’s about time we have another savory recipe around here! Goodness, it’s been almost a month since I shared these lasagna stuffed peppers. Have you tried them yet?! I love when I come up with recipes on a whim…and they end up turning out pretty well! The lasagna stuffed peppers didn’t take many test batches to perfect…which is NOT the case with these heart healthy omega-3 salmon burgers! I am not exaggerating when I say I’ve made these salmon burgers about 7-8 times…BUT that’s been over the course of the last 1.5 months so it’s been a little spread out.🙂 And the recipe makes 4 burgers, so since I’m just cooking for 2, Chris and I are able to get two meals out of this recipe!
The idea for these salmon burgers first came after discovering Aldi (one of my go-to grocery stores!) carried these delicious frozen salmon burgers. I bought them several times, but the bad thing about shopping at Aldi is that many of their items rotate and change…so sadly, I hadn’t been able to find them for several months. So what’s one to do when you’re craving a salmon burger?! I didn’t realize how easy it was to simply make them at home!

I use canned salmon here, as the salmon needs to be pre-cooked for this recipe. Canned salmon saves you a step of cooking the salmon and then flaking it…and to be honest, I feel it’s major waste to then grind up freshly cooked, expensive salmon for burgers. I haven’t tried using fresh salmon, but I’m sure you could. All that to say…to be honest the first time I made these burgers was the first time I had ever bought canned salmon…and I was MORTIFIED and disgusted to find small bones and pieces of skin in there! I even tried several different brands of canned salmon to see if they were all like that…(they were). So I just take a few minutes to pick through the bones/skin and discard that. Just a heads up if you’ve never bought canned salmon before like me.
